Udta Punjab controversy: Kapil Sharma suggests Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s film showcases the sad reality of the state!

The comedian voices his concerns over the internet…

Udta Punjab starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor Khan has run into a roadblock following the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) suggested that it should drop Punjab from the title of the film, in addition to the other 89 cuts that were told to be made. The makers are very disappointed and producer Anurag Kashyap ranted against this step in front of the media and on twitter. Many people have come out in support of this including Karan Johar, Hansal Mehta, Ram Gopal Varma and now, ace-comedian Kapil Sharma.
The host of The Kapil Sharma Show slammed the people for opposing the film and suggested that the film actually shows the reality of Punjab. He wrote on Twitter, “Families have lost their youth to easy drugs and lack of rehabs in de state.. so can’t shut our eyes to this. Those who say dat der r no drugs or illegal medicines easily available in Punjab..dont kno de real pain of Punjab.”
Many people across India have mentioned on Twitter that the film should not be cut. They have also suggested that the makers should not drop Punjab from the title. The makers have already taken their matter to the court and with the film-makers from across India holding a meeting today, we may see Udta Punjab get unceremonious support. And most likely, the film will get delayed (as we reported to you EXCLUSIVELY) and will release on a later date after the CBFC passes it with reasonable cuts.
