Rangasthalam CRUSHES Baaghi 2 to take the number one spot in the biggest weekend of 2018 : Chennai Box office

Chennai Box office has been dominated by non-Tamil releases - Rangasthalam and Baaghi 2

It’s been a month since no new Tamil releases have hit theatres. The conflict between producers and Digital Service providers continues. This is by far the longest strike Tamil cinema and theatres have witnessed. While fans await, new content with much anticipation, films in other languages have been drawing full attention. Last week, Rani Mukherji’s Hichki and Pacific Rim Uprising took over the Chennai Box office. This week, we have Ram Charan – Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s Rangathalam and Baaghi 2 taking centre stage. In fact, Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam has managed to crush Baaghi 2 at the Chennai box office and take on the number 1 spot in the longest weekend of 2018. As Sreedhar Pillai points out, Other language films – #Rangasthalam & #Bhaagi2 make merry during Easter weekend at Chennai Box-Office with great collections. #Kollywood has missed out on the biggest weekend to start of 2018 summer season.
Ever since Rangasthalam’s release on 30th March, critics, fans, celebs have stopped praising the film. Sukumar’s depiction of the rural scene in the 80s and Ram Charan’s act as Chitti Babu have specially been praised. Samantha’s expressions have also had fans gushing. This pair came together for the first time and has proved lucky! The film is faring phenomenally even in the overseas market. It has already entered the top 10 highest grossing Telugu films in America. Here’s what our reviewer has to say about Rangasthalam – Ram Charan will be remembered for his Chitti Babu character for a long time. Rangasthalam has scenes that will stay with you for a long time, especially the bloody fight in the field and the final one between Ram Charan and the main villain. This one is a sure-shot blockbuster.Ram Charan – Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s first release of 2018 sure has struck gold.
